INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 12-ranked University of Indianapolis women's tennis team lost their first match of the season late on Friday night, falling 4-3 to the No. 15-ranked Washburn Ichabods.

With talent at the top of their lineup, the Ichabods snagged an early lead, claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches.
Maissane Aik and
Tyffaine Pais scratched out a quality win at No. 2, but to no avail.

From there, it was quick wins for the Ichabods, as No. 3 Maja Jung took down
Diane Flament in straight sets at No. 1 singles. Washburn snagged another victory at No. 6 singles before the Hounds could respond, with Pais and Aik both rattling off straight-set wins.

Ana Hollweg, coming in at No. 25, survived a dangerous first set loss to rattle off an electrifying second set win 7-5. Finally the dagger of a 6-0 third put the match at No. 4 singles.

In the longest match of the season,
Benedetta Sensi fought back and forth, winning the first set via tiebreak and losing the second the same way. The fatigue caught up to her in the end, eventually falling 6-3.

The Hounds are back on the court on Sunday against No. 8 Wayne State. Match time is currently set for 1:30 p.m in the UIndy Tennis Center.
