INDIANAPOLIS – After suffering a nail-biting loss to the Washburn Ichabods, the No. 12-ranked UIndy women's tennis team was excellent in singles action, capturing victories at four out of the six singles points to win 4-2 against the No. 8 Wayne State Warriors.
INS & OUTS
The Warriors came out hot in doubles, taking wins at No 1 and No. 2 to earn the point. That deficit did not waver the confidence of the Hounds, the bottom of the lineup was dominant. First it was
Valentine Colin, who playing at No. 6 went lights out on her opponent, sweeping it 6-0, 6-0.
Following suit was No. 25
Ana Hollweg, who, in mimicking Colin, went 6-2, 6-2, giving the Hounds the lead. The newcomers kept the foot on the gas, as No. 7
Tyffaine Pais downed Marta Komar, also in identical 6-4 sets.
Wayne State fought back though, securing a win at No. 1, only moments before
Maissane Aik shut the door on the match with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory.
