INDIANAPOLIS – The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team suffered a comeback 4-3 loss to the No. 6-ranked Columbus State Cougars in the quarterfinals of the ITA DII Indoor Team Championships. The Hounds captured the doubles point and two singles match, leaving the match 3-0, before the Cougars fought back and eventually took the match 4-3.
INS & OUTS
The Hounds were the aggressors early, with the pair of
Erwan Momo Andre and
Louis Picaud snagging victory over the No. 23 ranked pair from CSU at No. 2 doubles. Both the No. 1 and No. 3 matches were locked at tiebreak, but it was the red-hot
Tom Zeuch and
Matthieu Derache that secured victory first, snagging the doubles point for the Hounds.
That momentum carried for the Hounds as they quickly jumped to a 3-0 lead with wins at No. 1 by Zeuch and No. 5 by Momo Andre. However, the Cougars clawed back into the contest, first grabbing victory at No. 3. That opened the floodgates as they went back-to-back-to-back from there in three setters, eventually winning 4-3.
UP NEXT
