GREENWOOD, Ind. – With the weather opening up just in time for match play, the No. 10-ranked UIndy men's tennis team made a show against the visiting Lewis Flyers, dropping the Planes by a score of 7-0. It marks the tenth straight loss the Hounds have handed the Flyers, with it being the third straight shutout as well.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hounds came in expecting dominance and they provided just that, kicking off doubles with a clean sweep. The No. 1 pair – both in ranking and in position – showed up to play in their first match as the new mountain of DII doubles, taking it 7-5.
Louis Picaud and
Erwan Momo Andre who were dropped from No. 10 to No. 22 despite eating no losses, came out with some fire and took their match 6-3. Wrapping up doubles was
Pedro Franca and
David Simeonov bringing the brooms from the closet with a 7-5 win.
Singles was domination one through six, with not a single match going into a third set. With Picaud getting the match off,
Federico Riolo and
Mauricio Grijalva got some match time with both playing to sweeps.
Erwan Momo Andre as well moved up the lineup to No. 2, winning 6-4, 6-1.
