PARIS – The University of Indianapolis will have a pair of student-athletes competing at the 2024 Summer Olympics in the coming days. UIndy swimmers
Cedric Buessing (Germany) and
Collins Saliboko (Tanzania) will both be representing their home countries at the world's biggest sporting event.
Â
A two-time NCAA champion, Buessing put up a massive time in the 400 individual medley
earlier this year to earn a spot on the German Olympic team. He will take the pool in Paris on Sunday, July 28 for the 400 IM preliminary heats, starting at 5 a.m. ET. The top eight performers will advance to finals Sunday afternoon.
Â
Saliboko, meanwhile, will be the lone male swimming representative from Tanzania. He recently won four individual golds the Tanzania National Clubs Championships, including in the 100-meter freestyle. He later finished in the top 20 in the event at the African Aquatic Championships. The Olympic 100 free begins on Tuesday, July 30 at 5 a.m. ET, with the top 16 from the prelims moving on to the semifinals later that afternoon.
