INDIANAPOLIS – UIndy men's basketball head coach Scott Heady announced the roster for the upcoming 2024-25 season, which includes four returners and 10 newcomers.
 
Returning from a 23-9 team that advanced to the NCAA DII Midwest Region second round a season ago are Kelvin Amoako, Dylan Ingram, Kyron Kaopuiki, and Zac Szul.
 
Ingram and Szul played significant roles on last season's team, combining for 22.5 minutes per game. Szul shot 42.4 percent from 3-point range and 79.1 percent from the charity stripe, drilling 25 triples and sinking 34 free throws.
 
Among the 10 newcomers, seven are transfers and three are true freshmen, nine of which are from the states of Indiana or Kentucky.
 
The new Hounds, in alphabetical order, are Dirin Birhiray, Grant Disken, Lavonte Harris, Dashawn Jackson, Noah Kon, Nate Orr, Tyler Parrish, Pierce Thomas, Tucker Tornatta, and Brody Whitaker.

Whitaker played his previous three seasons with Coach Heady at crosstown Marian University, where the Knights racked up 70 wins and three straight NAIA tournament appearances. The Greencastle High School all-time leading scorer earned All-Crossroads League Second Team distinction as a junior, averaging 19.3 points and 5.4 rebounds in 29 games. Whitaker was an efficient shooter, making 49.5 percent of his field goal attempts, including a 39.5 percent clip from 3-point range and 84.9 percent from the charity stripe.
 
Other notable transfers include Disken and Kon, who previously played at DII programs Saint Leo and Colorado Christian, respectively. Disken, a 1,000-point scorer for the Lions, drilled 153 triples in 95 games while at Saint Leo, shooting better than 38 percent from 3-point range. Meanwhile, Kon led the Cougars in scoring with 15.3 points per game this past winter, earning All-RMAC Honorable Mention status.
 
Teammates at Eastern Kentucky, Jackson and Thomas join the Greyhound family together after spending last season together in Richmond, Ky. Jackson spent three seasons as a Colonel, playing in 57 games, while Thomas committed to EKU after a pair of campaigns at Butler on the northside of Indy. Thomas was a hot commodity out of Brownsburg High School, rated a four-star recruit and top-30 small forward by ESPN.
 
Harris was a top junior college product out of Motlow State, where he averaged 16.1 points and 8.1 rebounds this past winter. Another transfer from a DI institution is Birhiray, who played 11 games as a redshirt freshman at Western Illinois in 2023-24. The forward is another local product of Indianapolis, graduating from Brebeuf Jesuit in 2022.
 
All three Greyhound rookies hail from the state of Indiana and were significant contributors to their respective alma maters. Parrish and Tornatta were each named Indiana All-Stars after their senior campaigns, while Orr averaged 14 points and earned all-conference distinction at Hamilton Southeastern.
