INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy women's basketball team fell to visiting McKendree, 84-75, to start the New Year. The Greyhounds racked up a season-high point total, but an efficient fourth quarter ultimately lifted the Bearcats to the win.
UIndy junior
Jaelynne Murray led the team with a season-best 18 points on 5-for-8 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 from beyond the arc.
INS & OUTS
After earning a halftime lead for the third time in the last four games, the Greyhounds pushed the margin to 12 points in the third quarter and led by a dozen once again with 8:46 left in the fourth.
McKendree refused to go quietly and clawed their way back with a 13-2 spurt. The Bearcats finally took the lead with 2:55 to go, breaking a 67-67 tie with a 3-ball from Baylie Parks.
The 'Cats kept UIndy at arm's reach to rest of the way, despite a pair of deep triples from
Amyrah Sapenter in the final minute.
INSIDE THE BOX
- Three other Greyhounds joined Murray in double figures; Sapenter finished with 15 points,
Elana Wells had 11, and
Ruby Garner had 10.

Patricia Chikamba led the team in rebounds with six.
- The Bearcats grabbed 35 rebounds compared to the Hounds' 29.
- The Hounds lead the Bearcats, 38-35; this was only the third instance that UIndy held the lead going into halftime.
MORE NOTES
The Greyhounds continue to lead the Bearcats, 10-8, in the all-time series ... Parks finished with a double-double of 22 points and 12 rebounds for the Bearcats, leading the team in both categories.
