Greyhounds Dominate Paint in First-Ever Meeting with Lincoln

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The UIndy women's basketball team used a big second quarter on Thursday evening to earn a 68-53 win at Lincoln. It marks the team's second straight win and its fourth victory in the last six contests.

The Greyhounds dominated the paint in their first-ever meeting with the Blue Tigers, outscoring their hosts by a 46-22 margin inside the lane.

Halie Gilbert was a major component to the Hounds' dominance in the paint, finishing with 22 points on 10-of-14 shooting.

HOW IT HAPPENED
UIndy outscored Lincoln, 23-11, in the second quarter on Thursday following a sluggish start to the game. Patricia Chikamba put the Hounds ahead with her bucket of the period at the 6:02 mark, while Gilbert's sixth field of the frame stretched their lead to double digits with 94 seconds left before the break.

The Greyhounds dished out six assists on 11 field goals during the quarter, with five players recording at least one. Elana Wells was credited with her second – and final – assist in the second, finding Jaelynne Murray for a hook shot.

The Hounds maintained status quo the final 20 minutes, leading by 12 after back-to-back triples from Murray in the fourth quarter. Chikamba secured her third double-double this season with just 1:30 left, recording 11 points and 11 rebounds.
