PEPPER PIKE, OH – The UIndy women's basketball team dropped its fourth straight game to open the season, this time falling to G-MAC foe Ursuline in a tightly contested 66-62 game on Saturday.
There were seven lead changes and six ties in Saturday's contest, the most lead changes in a game for UIndy this season.
Autumn Rucker bested her previous career high in points from early this season against Ashland today, with 18 points on 7-12 (58.3%) shooting. While Patricia Chikamba notched a season high in points today with 18, while also corralling seven boards along the way.
INS & OUTS
The first quarter was a tale of two runs, the Hounds jumped out a 13-7 lead at the halfway point of the first quarter thanks to six Amyrah Sapenter points. But the Arrows finished the quarter on a 14-7 run of their own to reclaim the lead 21-20 after 10 minutes.
Ursuline slowly took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Greyhounds 16-6. Chikamba and Halie Gilbert made the only two field goals of the second quarter for UIndy.
But the Greyhounds came out of the locker room, and flipped a switch, with five of the first seven baskets made in the third quarter coming from UIndy. The Greyhounds shot a clean 50% (9-18) from the field from three players; Chikamba and Rucker combined for 16 points. UIndy was able to chip away at the Arrows' lead, cutting it to four heading into the fourth.
Two Grayce Poe free throws squared the game at 60 with three minutes to play, but three pointer from Kailey Minch with under two minutes to play put Ursuline back ahead 63-60.
After a Lawson steal, her seventh of the game, on the next Ursuline possession, Rucker had a chance to give UIndy the lead with 57 second left, but her layup attempt was no good. The Arrows proceeded to knock down three free throws to extend its lead to four, and seal the 66-62 victory over UIndy.
INSIDE THE BOX

The Greyhounds will remain on the road in its next game against Thomas More on Monday Nov. 24, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. Monday's game will be the fifth consecutive G-MAC game to open the season for UIndy.
