INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team suffered another loss on Thursday night, in a defensive battle against Maryville by a score of 56-47.
Tonight's 103 points are the fewest points combined in a contest between the Saints and the Greyhound since the 2011-12 season.
Autumn Rucker once again continued to shine on the offensive end, scoring a game-high 17 points, marking her fifth straight game with double-digit points, and her sixth of the season. While Halie Gilbert scored a season-high eight points for UIndy tonight.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Following a tight first quarter that saw the Greyhounds take two leads at 4-2 and 6-4, the Saints and Greyhounds combined for 11 points in the first six minutes of the second quarter. Chikamba, Graycie Poe and Rucker were the lone three point scorers for the Hounds in the second, and cut the Saints lead to five with a Rucker three at the buzzer.
After the teams combined for 20 points or fewer in each of the first two quarters, the third and fourth saw more buckets fall on both sides. Murray hit the Hounds' only three today in the third, on a step back effort to cut the deficit to just three with 21 seconds to go in the third quarter.
The Greyhounds got within five points of Maryville twice in the third quarter, but the Saints outscored the Greyhounds 14-10 over the game's final 6:30 to extend the lead to nine, and close out a 56-47 win over UIndy at The Nic.
