ST. LOUIS — The UIndy volleyball team fell to Ferris State University on Saturday on the campus of the University of Missouri-St. Louis, ending its impressive postseason run in the Midwest Region title match.
The Greyhounds finish the 2025 campaign with 22 victories, their most in a season since 2013. Notably, UIndy made its first appearance in the Midwest Championship since 2012 and became the first No. 8 seed to advance to a regional title match since 2022.
The Greyhounds secured a narrow victory in the third set to avoid the sweep.
Lauren Gips made an impact with five of her eight kills in the frame. UIndy extended its advantage to 8-1, with
Makenzie Pflederer registering consecutive kills. Ferris attempted a comeback, narrowing the deficit to 18-17 with a series of kills, but the Greyhounds' defense held firm.
Paige Parlanti and Gips were pivotal in the closing stages, with a block from the pair bringing the Greyhounds to set point, which was ultimately won thanks to a service error by Ferris.
UIndy seniors
Kaitlin Fasbender and
Claire Morris, as well as Gips and Parlanti, led one of the most impressive seasons by a Greyhound volleyball team in more than a decade. Morris caps her career with 2,642 assists, the eighth-most in program history.
Following the conclusion of the match,
Carly Fonda and
Maddie Lynch joined Parlanti and Pflederer on the 2025 DII Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.Â
Fonda ranks second in the program record book for assists by a rookie with 1,222, while
Macy Bruton's 524 digs are good for fourth-most by a junior in a single season.
