Men's Tennis Bounces Back Against Purdue Northwest

Box Score INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team took down Purdue Northwest 5-2 this past Sunday, Feb 9. The win improves their record to 4-1 on the season. 

INS AND OUTS
The Lions jumped ahead of the Greyhounds early after winning the doubles point. The duo of Samuel Dickson and Alex Van Lumich bested Matthieu Derache and David Simeonov by a score of 6-3 in #1 doubles. Purdue Northwest clinched it when Francisco Lanuesse and Joao Martins took down Asier Ayllon Prado and Tadeo Gaggiofatto 6-2. 

Simeonov's 6-4 6-3 win over Van Lumich leveled the score at one a piece. Manu Lanteri gutted out a third-set tiebreaker win over Dickson in #2 singles to give the Hounds a lead. Derache also clinched a third-set win over Dani Chicano Melero, with a score of 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 to give UIndy a 3-1 lead. 

Ayllon Prado's dominant showing against Martins sealed the deal for the Greyhounds, only conceding one game in the 6-0 6-1 victory. Gaggiofatto finished Daniel Sroka 6-1 6-3, and Lorenzo Di Cursi fell to Adhirit Awal 6-2 6-7 4-6. 

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will prepare for the ITA Indoor Championships this upcoming weekend, with competition started Friday, Feb 14.
