NEW ORLEANS - The UIndy men's track and field team first appeared in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI). The Greyhounds emerged in the 21st spot after jumping 26 sports from last week's ranking.
UIndy has four student-athletes and one relay team currently ranked in their respective events.
Josue Le Cadre sits at first place in the 600m after completing the ranking in 1:48.29 at the
GVSU Big Meets over the weekend. Le Cadre and
Felix Rivet are both ranked in the mile run in 41st and 47th, respectively.
In field events,
Alex Meyer and
Cameron Smith are inside the top 25. Meyer is 12th in the high jump and 16th in the long jump. Smith is the lone thrower, he is ranked 23rd in the weight throw.
The Greyhounds Distance Medley Relay (DMR) team is another big part of the team. The squad of
Josiah Adams,
Tom Saint-Juvin, Le Cadre, and Rivet, showed out over the weekend, breaking the school record and earning a trip to Nationals. The team is currently sixth in the DMR with a time of 9:41.19.
UIndy will compete in the John Gartland Invitational on Saturday next. Hosted by Indiana State, the meet will take place in Terre Haute, Ind.
