MUNCIE,Ind.— The University of Indianapolis traveled to Muncie to compete against 17 other teams across all divisions at the Annual Ball State We Fly Challenge.Â
The Hounds brought home three first-place finishes with senior Mackenzie VanBibber taking the top spot in the women's pole vault with a new personal best of 9.73m. Alex Meyer took first in the men's long jump with his leap of 7.43m, while Riley Buroff secured his victory in the men's 400m with a time of 22.31.Â
The Hounds had seven top-ten finishes in the women's pole vault with Zoe Arvanitis and Elise Krodel tying for second, clearing the bar at 3.53m, while Ann Elise Sloan, Addison Windsor, Maleah Bostock, and Emma Rosenberger took fifth, seventh, eighth, and ninth respectively. The men's squad had three in the event's top ten, highlighted by a third-place finish from Keywuan Taylor, who cleared 4.50m. Ethan Isles took sixth after clearing 4.20m on his first attempt, while Logan Lawson finished eighth.Â
Amanda Noel had four top-ten finishes in the throws, taking third in the women's javelin with a toss of 38.02m. The junior also finished fifth in the hammer and discus throws and 10th in the shot put.
Vivian Osagie threw another provisional mark in the women's shot put to take second with her toss of 15.19m, while Loria Snowden finished seventh with a throw of 13.47. Maya Efodi was the highest Greyhound finisher in the women's hammer with her toss of 50.67m, while Macie Swinehart was the top Hound in the discus, finishing fourth with a throw of 44.55m.
Behind Meyer in the men's long jump, Nicholas Monro took fourth with a jump of 6.89m, just in front of Alexander Shaevitz, who finished seventh with a leap of 6.60m. Cole Hurt rounded out the top ten with his jump of 6.50m.
UIndy had four in the top ten of the men's high jump, led by Amarion Conyers, who finished second, clearing 1.95m. Meyer and Shaevitz tied for third with a jump of 1.90m, while Buroff finished sixth.Â
The Hounds earned two top ten finishes in the women's jumps, with Francesca Maurino finishing fifth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 1.65m, while Amiah Rhodes' jump of 5.39m took her to a ninth-place finish.Â
Curt Dahncke and Kevion Mitchell both earned eighth-place finishes with Dahncke earning his spot in the 800m while Mitchell clocked a 15.89m in the men's 110 hurdles.Â
Savannah Danielson clocked a 19:04.40 in her first 5k of the outdoor track season to finish ninth.
Buroff, Lateef Mustafaa and Brandon Wheat all earned top ten finishes in the men's 200m. Mustafaa topped off his day with a second-place finish in the 400m with a new personal record of 48.82. Junior Jalen Larkey also made it to the 400m finals and finished fifth with a time of 49.03
Brailie Hoagland earned two top-ten finishes, clocking a 57.92 in the 400m for seventh after running a 25.40 200m to finish 10th.Â
Matthew Stewart and Stephon Opoku finished in the top ten for in the men's 100m, finishing seventh and tenth, respectively.Â
