INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team prepares to host the ITA National Team Indoor Championship this weekend. The three-day event kicks off this Friday, Feb 21, and will run through Sunday evening.
The 2025 ITA Division II National Team Indoor Championship displays the premiere talent of Division II women's tennis in the three-day event, and will crown an indoor national champion come Sunday, Feb 23. The Greyhounds enter the tournament as the eighth seed, and will open competition in the quarterfinal round against the one seed of the tournament, No. 1 Barry University, this Friday, Feb 21, at 2:30 PM. The victorious team will play the winner of No. 3 Embry-Riddle and No. 8 Wingate in the semifinal match Saturday.
The competition on the right side of the bracket consists of a match between the #2 and #7 seeds, No. 6 North Georgia and No. 7 Flagler. No. 5 Midwestern State will take on No. 4 Lynn in the other quarterfinal competition.
The Hounds last played in the ITA National Indoor Championship in 2023, where they placed 5th after collecting wins against Nebraska-Kearney and Flagler. They took home a 3rd place finish in 2022, and were crowned national champions of the event in 2021.
UIndy is off to a 2-1 start on the year, honing wins over Thomas More University and Tiffin University. Their lone loss came at the hands of Ferris State.
Jimena De Pablos Hernando, last week's GLVC Player of the Week, is off to a dominant start in the early season. The sophomore hasn't conceded a set in singles play all season, and holds a 2-1 mark in doubles. Suryanshi and Andrea Garcia also sport unblemished 2-0 marks in singles.
