Frost Claims 900th Career Win Versus Findlay

MOORESVILLE, Ind. – University of Indianapolis softball head coach Melissa Frost joined an exclusive club Sunday, becoming just the 30th coach in NCAA Division II history to reach 900 career wins. After dropping game one to Findlay, 4-2, the Greyhounds run-ruled the Oilers, 13-5, for the milestone victory.

Frost currently sits at No. 10 on the list of most career wins by active Division II coaches and ranks 13th in career win percentage (.722). The UIndy matriarch has led the program since 2005 and has compiled 826 of her wins as a Greyhound.

GAME 1 | UF 4, UIndy 2
With the games shifted the to turf field at nearby Mooresville High School, the Greyhounds bats had trouble solving lefthanded pitcher Alexys Antal (1-0). The All-Midwest Region hurler held the Hounds scoreless until the sixth when a leadoff double from Sydney Oliver's preceded a two-out single from Brooklyn Willis to score UIndy's first tally.

Two doubles in the seventh accounted for the other run, as Maya Rodriguez and Cara Cooper each had a two-bagger in the frame.

Freshman pitcher Cheyenne Eads (2-3) battled through all seven innings, striking out six in the complete-game effort.

GAME 2 | UIndy 13, UF 5 (5 inn.)
The bats wasted little time getting going in game two, hanging two quick ones on the board in the first and breaking it open with crooked numbers in the third, fourth and fifth. Willis got the party started with an RBI triple in the first, part of a three-hit, three-RBI game.

Ella Palm delivered the biggest blow in the third inning. Immediately following Shelby Cook's two-run double, the junior catcher and juco transfer lifted the ball over the right field fence for her first home run as a Hound.

Cooper added four ribbies in her final two at bats, including a base-loaded double in the fourth. Willis finished her day with a remarkable fifth inning, robbing a potential Oiler homer in the top half and stroking a two-RBI single at the plate before scoring the walkoff run on a Cooper knock.

Senior Jayden Casebolt earned the complete-game win in the circle, moving her record to 4-1 on the young season. She fanned three and walked zero in five innings of work.
