INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 24-ranked UIndy Wrestling team will be competing in this years' NCAA DII Super Regional IV hosted by Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO.
The lineup of teams this year include four ranked teams; No. 5 Central Oklahoma, No. 7 McKendree, No. 21 Central Missouri and No. 24 Maryville. Along with those four teams, Drury, Kentucky Wesleyan, Newman, Ouachita Baptist and Quincy will all be in this year's event.
The Greyhounds have already faced off against six of the Super Regional IV opponents, going 5-4 in those nine dual meetings, including wrestling Quincy, Maryville and McKendree at this year's GLVC Championships.
"We are excited to compete this weekend," head coach Jason Warthan said. "We wrestled really well at the GLVC Championships and we are ready to build off that performance and see what we can do at Regionals".
UIndy is coming into this event with a quality lineup, headed by 2024 National Champion Derek Blubaugh at 197, and three other 2024 Super Regional wrestlers; Nathan Smith (125), Jackson Hoover (141) and Trey Sizemore (174). Hoover and Sizemore, along with Blubaugh, are both looking to capture spots as national qualifiers for the second consecutive year.
"This group has quite a bit of regional and national experience which helps keep our group calm and focused headed into this year," Warthan said.
Along with those four, UIndy is bringing first timers to the Super Regional, 2025 GLVC second team members Brayden Lowery (141) and Cale Gray (285), freshman Toby Billerman (133), redshirt junior Shane Bates (165), and redshirt seniors Nathan Conley (157) and Aidan Petersen (184).
The Hounds will get things underway at the University of Central Missouri on Saturday at 10 a.m. on March 1.
