INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's basketball team fell 77-58 in their rematch against Maryville on Thursday night.
The Greyhounds had three double-digit scorers on the night, Amyrah Sapenter and Patricia Chikamba led the way with 14 points each, and Jaelynne Murray with 12. But it was not enough to counter the hot shooting of Maryville.
INS & OUTS
Maryville jumped out to a 29-13 lead at the end of the first quarter, fueled by six made three pointers, two each from Maryville's Caden Krohn and Faith Hawthorne.
The Hounds looked to spark a comeback in the second quarter, going on a 17-4 run to cut the lead to 36-33, led by Amyrah Sapenter's seven points. But Maryville would not be denied, responding by forcing two quick turnovers and going on a 5-0 run to head into the half up 45-37.
But the second half was all Saints behind the sharp shooting guard duo of Gracie Stugart and Olivia Hahn, with those two combining for 21 of the team's 32 second half points, and sealing the 77-58 win for Maryville.
