Box Score INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis men's tennis team fell to seventeenth-ranked Wayne State 3-4 this Saturday, Feb 8.  The Greyhounds move to 3-1 on the season.Â
INS AND OUTS
UIndy took home the doubles point after three hard-fought matches. In #1 doubles, George Day and Cedric Drenth edged out
David Simeonov and
Matthieu Derache 7-6 in a contested tiebreak. The team of
Tadeo Gaggiofatto and
Asier Ayllon Prado responded with a 7-5 win over Sam Knowles and Tom Wasner to level the score.
It all came down
Lorenzo Di Cursi and
Manu Lanteri in #3 doubles, where they gutted out a 7-6 win over Luis Klaus and Ben Hill in a tiebreak.Â
In singles, the Warriors got a 2-1 jump on the Hounds after Drenth took down Simeonov 6-2 6-4, and Day topped Lanteri 7-6 6-2. Derache evened the score at two a piece with a 7-6 6-4 win over Klaus.
Both side exchanged wins with Gaggiofatto besting Hill 6-2 7-6, and Knowles taking down Di Cursi 6-4 6-1 to get to a 3-3 stalemate. The Warriors clinched the match after Wasner overpowered Ayllon Prado with a 2-6 7-6 6-3 win.Â
