INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 23-ranked Greyhounds hosted over 20 teams in the 2025 Greyhound Open in the UIndy Athletic Recreation Center on Sunday, Feb. 9.
UIndy claimed six top-ten finishes, with 19 wrestlers competing on the day.
Jake Niffenegger (141), who competed unattached, was the Greyhounds' top finisher with a second-place finish. The next highest finisher was Assistant Coach Ivan Lopouchanski (149) with a fifth-place finish. Armen Koltookian (197) and Elijah Hinshaw (285) both saw sixth-place finishes. While Noah Clouser (Unattached, 174) and Gavin Garcia (149) finished in seventh and eighth place in their weight classes.
INS & OUTS
Niffenegger went 4-1 on the day, winning his first match by a pin over David Rodriguez. Neffeneger saw wins by decision over Grand Valley State's Collin Twigg and Maryville's JP Homfield in his next two matches. He defeated Michigan State's Connor Younts 10-2 by major decision before falling in the championship match by a 5-3 decision to Illinois' William Baysinger.
Lopouchanski earned a 10-1 win by major decision over Manchester'sBrady Schiffli in his first match. He went on to win his second match overUIndy's Brayden Deem 15-0 by tech fall, then lost 8-5 decision to Indiana's Matt Hart in the 149 weight class. He later earned his fifth-place finish when Hart medically forfeit in the fifth-place match.
Also in the 149 weight class, Garcia finished 3-1 on the day for his first career top-ten finish. His first win was picked up by tech fall over Wabash's Anden Ankney, and a win by pin over Owen Manley. In the championship third-round he wonby major decision over Dru Thomas, before falling in the quarterfinal match to Anthony Bahl.
Koltookian finished his day in the 197 weight class going 1-1 for the Greyhounds and winning his first match 8-5 via decision before falling to Kennedy Wyatt via tech fall in the championship bracket quarterfinal.
Clouser went 1-1 on the day, defeating his first opponent Zander Phillips by pin in just over a minute before losing his second match by major decision.
Hinshaw rounded out the top finishers for the Greyhounds and ended his day with a first-round win by pin over Alex Holmes for his 11th career pin, before falling to Titus Waters in his second match.

The Greyhounds will be back in action Feb. 16 in Lebanon, Ill. against Quincy University for the GLVC Championships.
