INDIANAPOLIS – Behind back-to-back shutouts from its pitching staff, the UIndy softball team earned a pair of in-region wins over visiting Ohio Dominican, 2-0 and 6-0, Wednesday afternoon. The opening contest a featured a one-hitter by freshman hurler
Cheyenne Eads and a game-winning triple by junior
Shelby Cook.

GAME 1 | UIndy 2, ODU 0
In an absolute pitchers' duel, the first hit of the game did not come until the top of the fourth inning when Panther outfielder Erica Massey found the outfield grass with a leadoff single. She eventually reached third base—the only Panther to do so all game—before Eads fanned the last two batters of the frame to keep it scoreless.
Â
Eads herself broke up the ODU no-hit bid with a single in the bottom of the fourth, and later earned the Hounds' second hit with a two-out knock in the sixth.
Josie Jager followed with a walk before Cook ripped a shot down the rightfield line, scoring both base runners on her way to third.

Â
The lead held as Eads retired the Panthers in order in the seventh to seal the win. She moved to 10-7 on the year, striking out seven and walking just two. The outing was good for her third shutout of the season.
Â
Brooklyn Willis had a stolen base, while
Sydney Oliver,
Cara Cooper and Eads all had success sacrifice bunts. Additionally,
Jocelyn Calvin's second-inning walk was good for 100th career base on balls, making her just the fourth player in program history to reach triple digits in the metric.

GAME 2 | UIndy 6, ODU 0
Unlike game one, the Hounds did not wait long to get on the board, as Eads' gapper in the bottom of the first staked them to a 1-0 lead. Cook added a sac fly in the third before UIndy took control with a four-run fourth. The decisive blow came off Calvin's bat when the senior infielder hit a two-out, bases-loaded double to score three runs and chase the ODU starting pitcher.
Â
In the circle, senior
Jayden Casebolt (8-2) and freshman
Isabelle Noble combined for the shutout. Casebolt tossed six-plus scoreless innings before giving way to Noble. The rookie hurler got the final three outs, including the last two on a 4-3 double play.
Â
Willis and
Cara Cooper each had two hits and two runs, while
Ella Palm had a single and a sac bunt.
