Hounds Roll To Two Road Wins at Missouri S&T

ROLLA, Mo. – On a warm but windy day in Rolla, the UIndy softball team earned a GLVC doubleheader sweep at Missouri S&T Friday afternoon. The Greyhounds took down the reigning conference champs by scores of 3-1 and 6-3, extended their win streak to five.

GAME 1 | UIndy 3, S&T 1
With the game knotted at 1-1 in the sixth inning, the Hounds crafted what proved to be the game-winning rally. Josie Jager's leadoff double provided the spark, and after a walk from Shelby Cook, Maya Rodriguez delivered an opposite-field double to score two and give the Hounds the lead for good.

Cook and Brooklyn Willis each had a single and a double, while Jocelyn Calvin added a walk and a run scored.

Freshman pitcher Cheyenne Eads (11-7) authored another quality performance in the circle, holding the host Miners to four hits and one unearned run.

GAME 2 | UIndy 6, S&T 3
The teams exchanged crooked numbers in the first, with the Hounds holding on to 3-2 after one inning. Jager had the biggest hit of the frame with a clutch two-out, two-run double.

The Hounds added to the lead with a run in the second and two more in the fourth. Meanwhile, game-two starter Jatden Casebolt had it working through the middle innings, retiring 12 consecutive Miners during one stretch. She finished with six hits allowed and zero walks in a complete-game effort, improving her record to 9-2.

Cara Cooper led the offense with two hits, a run and a ribbie. Eads had an RBI single, while both Casebolt and Willis chipped in a hit and a run.
