JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The UIndy softball team capped its Missouri road trip with two extra-inning wins Saturday afternoon at Lincoln University. The Greyhounds—who have now won seven in a row— outlasted the host Blue Tigers in the 11-inning opener, 3-2, before earning a 5-3 victory in eight innings in game two.
Â
The results marked the first time the Hounds went to extras in both ends of a doubleheader since 2018 and first time they won both such games since at least 2008

GAME 1 | UIndy 3, Lincoln 2 (11 innings)
A two-run second represented the whole of UIndy's scoring until extra innings. Both
Josie Jager (triple) and
Sydney Oliver (double) provided RBI extra-base hits to stake the Hounds to 2-1 edge.
Â
The Blue Tigers tied it up at 2-2 in the bottom of the third, and there the score would stay all the way until the 11th inning. Walks from
Shelby Cook and
Maya Rodriguez preceded an HBP by pinch hitter
Jayden Casebolt, loading them up for Oliver.
Â
Oliver worked herself into a hitter's count before lifting a fly ball to centerfield. Lincoln corralled the fly ball, but the throw home was too late to get Cook, who slid safely into home with the go-ahead run.

Â
Freshman
Cheyenne Eads (12-7) pitched all 11 frames for the Hounds. She faced 43 batters on the day, fanning nine and walking none. She capped the game with a 1-2-3 11th, facing four batters or fewer in each of the final six innings.
Â
The 11-inning marathon marked the Hounds' longest game since a 12-inning contest versus Western Washington in last May's World Series.
Â
GAME 2 | UIndy 5, Lincoln 2 (8 innings)
Trailing 2-1 heading into in the seventh, UIndy delivered the timeliest of rallies to help send it to extras once again. Base hits from Oliver and
Jocelyn Calvin put runners at the corners with one out in front of
Cara Cooper. The team's leading hitter did just enough, as her fielder's choice groundout to the pitcher urged a hustling Oliver home to knot it up.
Â
After a quiet bottom of the seventh from the Tigers, the Hounds elbowed their way in front with a big three-run surge in the top of the eighth. Cook brought in the go-ahead run with an absolute rocket of a triple, plating pinch-runner
Tori Angles all the way from first base. RBI knocks from Casebolt and Oliver provided insurance.
Â
Â
Casebolt picked up pitching win No. 10 with 7 1/3 innings of solid work. Eads came on to get the final two outs and record her first collegiate save.

UP NEXT
The Greyhounds will head to Ohio for a mid-week, non-conference tilt versus Ashland University. First pitch of the twin bill is set for Wednesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. ET.
