INDIANAPOLIS – After Friday's walk-off win for the UIndy baseball team dropped both games of the doubleheader against Davenport, falling 5-0 in game two and 13-7 in game three.
Austin Bode reached base in seven of his eight at bats; with five hits, a walk and a hit by pitch, while Armen Torosian led the way with three RBIs in both games for UIndy.
GAME 2 | UIndy 0, Davenport 5
Both starting pitchers had stellar outings in game two of this series, with both pitching six plus innings and recording at least seven strikeouts each. Dawson Gabe for UIndy pitched 6.1 innings with 10 punch outs, while Davenport's Keegan Batka pitched a complete game, and only allowed six hits with seven strikeouts.
The bats didn't come alive for either team until the seventh inning when the Panthers blew open the scoring on three singles from Cody Hultink, Justin Johnson and Vincent Hardy to put Davenport out in front 5-0.
UIndy managed five hits the entire day off Batka, with Austin Bode being the only Hound with multiple hits, going 3-3, while Armen Torosian, Nick Lukac and Luke Smock were the other three with a hit for the Hounds.
This is the first time UIndy has been shutout in a game since last season against Purdue Northwest (4/9/24) when UIndy fell 4-0.
GAME 3 | UIndy 7, Davenport 13
The bats came alive in this one for both teams; with every batter but one, recording a hit in the game. UIndy scored four runs in the first inning, off of a two run RBI from Lukac, an RBI ground out, and bases loaded walk to put UIndy out in front 4-1.
The Panthers responded with a three run home run to deep right center in the second, and an RBI ground out in the fifth to retake the lead 5-4 after three. UIndy got three runs back in the fourth from Lukac and Torosian to jump back out in front 7-4.
Davenport extended their lead even more with five runs in the fifth and seventh innings, forcing four pitching changes from the Hounds.
Game three was suspended after seven innings due to darkness, but picked back up on Sunday where it was all Davenport for the final two innings, as they picked up two more runs in the eighth inning to seal the 13-7 win over UIndy.
