INDIANAPOLIS – The season's first set of NCAA Division II Regional Rankings dropped on Wednesday, with the reigning Midwest-champion UIndy baseball team listed among those receiving postseason consideration. The Greyhounds were one of nine Midwest Region teams on the initial list.
Â
The first regional rankings include teams in alphabetical order only, with actual rankings set to be included in next week's release. The complete field will be announced on NCAA.com on Sunday, May 11. The NCAA DII Midwest Regional is set to begin on Thursday May 15 and run through Saturday May 18. The top two seeds from each region will each host part of a seven-team double-elimination bracket games, with the winners of both sections of the bracket then to play in a best-of-three series on May 22-24 in the NCAA DII Midwest Super Regional.Â
Â
The Hounds are one of four GLVC teams represented in this edition of the regional rankings, with Drury, Illinois Springfield and Lewis being the other three teams. The Hounds have gone 3-4 combined against Drury and Illinois Springfield this season, and are still set to host Lewis in the team's final regular season series of the year on May 1-3.Â
UIndy is looking to win their third consecutive NCAA regional title this year, and are rounding into form at the right time, winning eight of their last 11 games while averaging 9.2 runs per game per game over that stretch.Â
