SPRINGFIELD, ILL – In extending their win streak to 12, the University of Indianapolis men's tennis team swept Illinois Springfield 7-0. The win moves their record to 16-3 on the season.
INS AND OUTS
The Greyhounds took home the doubles point with ease, collecting wins at all three slots.
David Simeonov and Matthieu Derache bested Lin En Tan and Pablo Herrera 6-2 on court #1, while Asier Ayllon Prado and Tadeo Gaggiofatto took home a 6-4 win at #2 doubles over Antonio Struebel and Lukas Pieringer. Lorenzo Di Cursi and Manu Lanteri won by default at #3 doubles.
Ayllon Prado put the Hounds up 2-0 with a 6-2 6-2 win over Struebel at #2 singles. Simeonov extended the lead to 3-0 with his win on court #1 over Herrera.
Lanteri's 6-4 7-6 win against En Tan in the #3 singles slot gave the Hounds' extra insurance. The match was clinched with a dominant Derache win at #4 singles, topping Pieringer 6-2 6-0. Di Cursi and Gaggiofatto won by defaults to round out the scoring.
