Men's Tennis Overpowers Lewis 5-2 En Route To 11th Straight GLVC Regular Season Title

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – To clinch their 11th-straight GLVC regular season title, the No. 17 University of Indianapolis men's tennis team bested Lewis 5-2. They finish the regular season on a 12-match win streak, with a 16-3 mark on the regular season. 

"They've played extremely solid since the ITA tournament, and have meshed well together at the right time." UIndy head coach Malik Tabet said after the match. "We're looking forward to  taking on the new journey we have up ahead, and everyone is very excited about what we can do." 

INS AND OUTS
The Flyers were on the board first after securing the doubles point 2-1, with wins at slots #1 and #2. 

To start things off, Gabriel Haro Cuenca and Sarver Azamatov bested Tadeo Gaggiofatto and Asier Ayllon Prado 6-1 at #2 doubles. 

Lorenzo Di Cursi and Manu Lanteri edged-out Grant Miller and Santiago Carabajal 6-7 at #3 singles to level the doubles point at 1-1. Indrek Soome and Roberto Leal got Lewis the first point of the match with a 7-5 win over David Simeonov and Matthieu Derache at #1 singles. 

In the top half of singles play, the Greyhounds plucked two quick wins at the #1 and #2 positions to gain a 2-1 lead. 

Asier Ayllon Prado got the ball rolling with a dominant 6-2 6-1 victory at #2 singles over Haro Cuenca. Simeonov gave UIndy the lead with a 6-3 6-1 win over Soome at #1 singles. 

Azamatov responded well for the Flyers, leveling the score at 2-2 with his 7-6 6-4 finish over Lanteri in #3 singles. 

The Hounds kicked into high gear in singles positions #4, #5, and #6, ripping off three straight-set victories. 

Gaggiofatto and Di Cursi respectively each delivered bagels to their respective opponents at #5 and #6 singles, where Di Cursi dominated Andrew Davidson 6-0 6-0, and Gaggiofatto ousted Miller 6-0 6-0. 

Derache clinched the afternoon with a powerful showing against Carabajal at #4 singles, taking home a 6-5 6-1 win.
