Box Score ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – To conclude the regular season schedule, the University of Indianapolis women's tennis team clinched their 11th-straight GLVC regular season championship in a 7-0 sweep against Lewis.
"It's very nice to see the team finally playing all together and dominating." UIndy head coach Malik Tabet said after the win. "We're all looking forward to the upcoming weekend of high level competition, and the opportunity to bring home the hardware."
INS AND OUTS
The Greyhounds struck first with a sweep in doubles competition, collecting wins at #1 and #2 doubles, along with a win by forfeit in #3 doubles.
Tyffaine Pais and Sofia Cardenas overpowered Jordane Dookie and Sofiia Vdovychenko 6-2 in #1 doubles.
Doubles competition was finished with a strong performance at #2 doubles from Jimena De Pablos and Silvia Zappoli, where they bested Benedetta Luccone and Skreevally Medishetti 6-2.
The onslaught continued in singles play, where Pais took down Dookie 7-6 6-3 at #1 singles. De Pablos Hernando ousted Vdovychenko in the third singles spot with a 6-4 7-6 win to give the Hounds a 3-0 advantage.
The match at #2 singles was more contentious, where Medishetti took the first set from Suryanshi 6-4. Suryanshi bounced back in forceful fashion, collecting a 6-2 win in the second set, and finishing the match with a 6-1 result in the final set.
Silvia Zappoli added insurance to the 4-0 lead with a dominant 6-1 6-0 win over Avelynn Wen at #5 singles. Linya Chen clinched the match with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Luccone in #4 singles.
