Greyhounds Open NCAA DII Championship Run Against No. 18 Charleston

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – For the eighth consecutive season, the No. 17 University of Indianapolis men's tennis team will compete in the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA DII men's tennis championship. The 2025 NCAA DII men's tennis championships are held at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Greyhounds open round of 16 competition on Tuesday, May 20, at 8 A.M. against No. 18 Charleston.

UIndy enters the national draw as the eighth seed, after sweeping No. 27 Purdue Northwest and No. 30 Ferris State in Regional competition. The clean sheet against the Bulldogs marked their 17th straight win, and third consecutive sweep versus a ranked opponent. In total, UIndy has amassed a 21-3 overall record.

Similar to the Hounds, the ninth-seeded Golden Eagles come into nationals with a 21-3 record. Charleston was the No. 1 overall seed in the Atlantic Region, receiving a first-round bye in Regional play. They swept the Davis & Elkins in their lone Regional match to advance to the national tournament, while extending their win streak to 11.

The Hounds credit collective cohesion and a disciplined process to their win streak that dates back to February 16. The longest individual win streak is owned by Asier Ayllon Prado, who's captured 15 consecutive wins dating back to February 16, and 19 wins overall. Leading UIndy's strong band in total wins is Tadeo Gaggiofatto, honing a 20-1 singles clip and a 14 match win streak.

Spearheading doubles competition is the tandem of Manu Lanteri and Lorenzo Di Cursi, claiming a team-best 15-5 record when paired together. The duo is 8-2 in their last ten matches, and come into nationals fresh off of a 7-5 win that clinched the doubles point against Ferris State. In singles, Lanteri carries a 15-6 recond, while Di Cursi sits at 8-7.

Rounding out the Greyhound lineup are veterans David Simeonov and Matthieu Derache, who marshal the doubles lineup at the #1 slot. Simeonov also fronts the UIndy singles lineup, holding a 13-5 record at #1 singles. Derache has collected a 14-3 clip across the top of the singles lineup, with wins in his last six matches.

The Hounds are no stranger to this event, making their eighth nationals appearance in nine seasons. UIndy's deepest championship run came in the 2022-2023 season, where they collected wins in the sweet sixteen and quarterfinals to advance to the national semifinal.
