ST. LOUIS - It was another tough battle on Sunday afternoon, with the UIndy women's lacrosse team falling to top-seeded Maryville by a score of 10-9 in the GLVC Championship.
GLVC Attacker of the Year Helen Bae scored the game-winning goal with under five minutes left, lifting the Saints to their first-ever league title in the sport of women's lacrosse.
Olivia Bladon recorded a hat trick for the fifth straight game and now has 75 on the season.
INS & OUTS
It was a game for the ages on Sunday, as neither team led by more than two goals over the final 38+ minutes of action. Bladon's second netter of the afternoon put the Hounds up 5-2 early in the second quarter before the Saints rattled off five consecutive scores in less than three minutes to lead 7-5 at the break.

Each team traded two-goal spurts in the second half, with
Elle Cimini and
Kendall Conrad knotting the game at seven and nine apiece, respectively. After Bae's unassisted goal with 4:19 left in the fourth quarter, the Greyhounds had five opportunities to send the game to overtime.
Emily Ghazal nearly beat Maryville goalkeeper Gianna Guzek low as time ticked away, setting up a dramatic finish.
Amanda Hurry forced a turnover in the midfield that Ghazal scooped up, giving
Malaena Michielin a chance as time expired. Guzek made the save once again, finishing with eight of nine stops in the second half.

UIndy controlled possession inside the draw circle, winning 15 of 23 chances.
Caroline Krauch secured seven herself, while Michielin added four draws.

Ava Graham returned to the starting lineup on Sunday, making four saves between the pipes and scooping up four ground balls.
- Ghazal was credited with a team-high two assists, as
Sage Da Silva and
Alexa Versaci dished out one apiece.
