INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis athletics department announced the launch of Hounds Leadership Academy, beginning with the 2025-26 academic year.

The Hounds Leadership Academy, exclusive to UIndy student-athletes, is designed to enhance leadership skills, personal development, and community engagement. This program aims to equip student-athletes with the skills, knowledge, and experiences necessary to excel in their academic experience, athletic careers, campus and community engagement, retention, and post-college endeavors.
The academy will provide comprehensive leadership training through workshops, mentorship, guest speakers, and real world applications, fostering well-rounded, impactful leaders who positively influence their teams, the university, and beyond.

Leadership workshops, mentorship programs, service projects, and networking opportunities highlight the program components to provide the selected student-athletes with the necessary skills to excel after graduation.

This proposed program ties directly into the University of Indianapolis Strategic Plan of "Leverage Athletics to support enrollment, retention, and community engagement." Investing in leadership development for student-athletes will strategically position UIndy Athletics to recruit and retain scholar student-athletes who value a well-rounded experience. It will provide unique enriched learning opportunities for professional and career development that will extend beyond the locker room to the campus and community.

This program will serve as a pillar for the Athletic Department's commitment to holistic student-athlete development.
