University of Indianapolis football standouts
Ryne Buttz,
Jalyn Givan and
Gavin Sukup earned preseason accolades Monday, nabbing a spot on the D2Football.com Elite 100 Watch List. With input from numerous sitting head coaches as well as professional football scouting veteran Josh Buchanan, the D2Football.com staff slotted all three Greyhounds to the SQUAD team (equivalent to honorable mention) on the exclusive list.
Recently named to the
East-West Shrine Bowl 1000, Buttz is a three-time all-conference performer coming off back-to-back All-GLVC First Team nods. He headlines a unit that last season ranked eighth in DII in red zone offense, 11th in scoring offense, 12th in total offense and 17th in rushing offense. The Decatur, Ill., native enters the 2025 season having started 28 consecutive games at three different positions.
Givan enters his fourth season as a starter for the Hounds after manning a starting cornerback spot for each of the last 25 contests. He helped the Hounds top the conference last season in scoring defense and total defense, ranking in the top 10 in Division II in both metrics. The Plainfield, Ill., native and two-time All-GLVC honoree has been a major contributor to three GLVC championship teams and three consecutive playoff qualifiers.
The two-time reigning GLVC Offensive Player of the Year, Sukup paced the GLVC last season in passing yards (2,621), total offense per game (248.6) and passing efficiency (158.3). Also a major threat with his legs, he amassed more rushing touchdowns last fall (5) than interceptions thrown (4). A native of Seward, Neb., Sukup is posed to move up the
UIndy all-time rankings in a number of statistical categories.
