INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy football team celebrated Homecoming with a lopsided 47-19 win against McKendree University Saturday night. In the conference opener for both teams, the Greyhounds racked up more than 600 yards of total offense, including nearly 300 yards passing from senior quarterback
Gavin Sukup.
Â
INS & OUTS
Sukup started the night by completing his first 15 pass attempts, including TD tosses to
Cobi Lewis and
Alonzo Derrick on the opening two drives. The veteran signal caller later converted a 3rd & Goal from the 14 with a touchdown pass to
Garrett Sherrell. All that added up to a 24-5 halftime lead for the Hounds.
Â
The Bearcats found some life early in the third quarter, securing their first takeaway to set up a touchdown drive and make it a two-score game. But the Hounds snatched the momentum right back, marching 90 yards on just seven plays, punctuated by a 35-yard rushing touchdown from Sukup.

Â
Reigning GLVC Special Teams Player of the Week
Andrew Herron got into the act as well. He broke out the pitching wedge on one third-quarter punt, sticking it inside the five-yard line and setting up a safety by
Danny Royster.
Â
Â
Juseters Fataki tacked on a pair of rushing TDs to put the game out of reach, including a 24-yard score. Sukup, meanwhile, would finish with 365 total yards—296 passing and 64 on the ground—and four total touchdowns.
