Hounds Land at #25 in Latest NWCA Poll, Four Individuals Ranked

MANHEIM, Pa. – The UIndy wrestling team heads into the home stretch of the season ranked No. 25 in the latest edition of the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division II Men's Coaches Poll.

The Greyhounds were one of two GLVC teams ranked inside the top-25 in this latest edition of the rankings, with UIndy's upcoming opponent, McKendree, comes in at No. 8. Along with UIndy and McKendree, three other GLVC teams received votes; Maryville, Quincy and Upper Iowa.

Included in this latest edition of the rankings are four individual Greyhounds ranked in their respective weight classes; Nathan Smith (125), Aidan Sprague (133), Gavin Garcia (149), and Cale Gray (285).

Smith remains in the top-15 at No. 12 of the 125 weight class following a thrilling 3-0 win over Jack Heaston in the team's dual on Friday night against Upper Iowa. Joining Smith in the top-15 of their weight class is Sprague who arrives at No. 10, the highest ranking of any Greyhound in the latest poll. Sprague pulled off a miraculous comeback effort against Upper Iowa where he used a late third period take down to earn his 6-5 decision win over Dawson Schmit.

Garcia enters the final two GLVC duals for UIndy at No. 11, and his coming off of close losses to No. 8 Ethan Doly from Upper Iowa, and No. 9 Sabian Russell from Quincy. Garcia still claimed a win earlier in the season at the Pioneer Open, which has cemented his place in the top-15.

Gray concludes the individuals ranked for UIndy this week, arriving at No. 12. Following a week off after his defeat in the team's dual against Drury, Gray rebounded accordingly with two commanding wins in the team's dual against Quincy and Upper Iowa.

The Hounds are back on the road this weekend with the team splitting up on Saturday, with half the group headed to the Wabash College Invitational, while the other half will be competing against Maryville in the team's second to last GLVC dual of the regular season.

The next edition of the NCAA Division II Coaches Association rankings will come out Feb. 19, 2026, with the NCAA Division II Super Regionals looming Feb. 28 and March 1.
