INDIANAPOLIS – The No. 20 ranked UIndy wrestling team picked up its first win of the season, 29-12 in against Drury, in the team's second dual of the 2025-26 season.
The Greyhounds dominated tonight, picking up eight wins of tonight's 11 matches, including two pin victories and a tech fall win. Along with tonight's dominance, the Greyhounds continued its long standing success against Drury, extending its win streak over the Panthers to 10.
INS & OUTS
The first of the eight Greyhounds to earn a win tonight was Luke Robards (157), who began the day with an 8-3 decision. He began the match with a take down in each of the first two periods to capture six points against Garrett Salt. He wrapped things up in the third, and walked away with the Hounds' first three team points of the day.
Shane Bates (174), and Christian Chavez (184) claimed the next two UIndy wins, with Bates using an early take down in the first to propel his way to an 11-4 decision victory. While Chavez controlled his match from the jump, earning the Greyhounds' only tech fall win of the day after a 12 point first period.
Noah Clouser (197) showed out in his first dual appearance for the Greyhounds, earning a pin in the first period after just 44 seconds, earning the Greyhounds another six team points.
The nationally ranked duo of Nathan Smith (125) and Aidan Sprauge (133) continued UIndy's winning ways tonight. Smith earned an impressive pin, after Bryson Humprhries take down was caught by a Smith reversal into a fall victory in the second period. While Sprague came back after trailing 3-0, reeling off eight straight points to clinch his 8-3 decision win.
Gavin Garcia (149) and Elijah Hinshaw (285) capped off the night for UIndy with two more decision victories, and getting UIndy to 29 team points for the evening. Garcia clawed his way back to a 6-4 decision win, after a take down with one minute remaining gave him the two point edge.
Hinshaw wrestled an extra match in tonight's dual, but earned a well rounded shutout decision that saw him escape twice, earn a two-point near fall, and earn riding time en route to his 5-0 win.
Chayce Yant (141), Logan Farnell (157), and Cale Gray (285) also all competed tonight for UIndy, but all fell in their respective weight classes.
