LOUISVILLE, Ky.— The University of Indianapolis men's and women's cross country programs traveled down to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in the 25th Annual Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday. The women's squad finished 22nd in the women's 5k cc Gold competition, where they faced some of the top DII teams in West Texas, including West Texas A&M and Lee, both of which finished in the top 15 at last year's NCAA DII Cross Country National Championships. The men's team finished second in the men's 8k Blue competition.Â
Conyer Wilson was the only Hound to finish in the top ten, nabbing a seventh-place finish with a time of 25:21.9, over two minutes faster than his season-opening time at the John McNichols Invitational. Elise Peckinpaugh led the women's squad in the 5k with a time of 17:51.4.
Behind Wilson in the 8k, Ian Pugh was the second Hound to cross the finish line on the men's side, finishing 19th. The junior shaved nearly a minute off his season-opening time with a 25:25.0. In his first race for the crimson and grey, Ali Benzem finished 30th with a time of 26:01.1, followed by senior Yanis Le Mouillour, who finished with a time of 26:13.4. Sophomore Evan Bense rounded out the top finishers for the Hounds with a new personal best in the 8k with a time of 26:23.6.Â
On the women's side sophomore, Savannah Danielson was the second Hound to cross on the women's side finishing in a time of 19:24.5. Finishing less than a second apart, junior Alivia Edens and sophomore Sophia Stadler were the next two women from Indianapolis to the finish, clocking 19:42.6 and 19.46.3, respectively.Â

The Hounds will travel to New Boston, Michigan to compete in the Warrior Challenge, hosted by Wayne State University on October 24th.Â
