INDIANAPOLIS - The UIndy men's soccer team earned their second road win of GLVC play in a 2-1 victory over the Missouri S&T Miners.
The Greyhounds were tested early by the Miners, but Rick Lammerts continued to protect the goal line like he has all season, finding a save six minutes in.
The Hounds then looked for a couple of responses of their own, first off of an attempt from Victor Mayrink which was saved and followed by a shot by Hugo Paturel a minute later.
The two sides then traded corner kick attempts before Joey Longo scored his fifth goal of GLVC play in the 24th minute.
After the goal, UIndy kept their foot on the gas with multiple free kicks and offensive opportunities developing as the first half came to a close with the Hounds up one.
The second half saw a continued increase in pressure from the Greyhounds as they fired off three shots from the 50th through 54th minutes of action.
After the flurry of shots the Miners looked to battle back and found their way back even after the hosts were awarded a penalty kick, which they converted, in the 69th minute.
The Hounds then inched their way forward, earning multiple free kicks throughout the following minutes before they converted on another set piece.
Owen Hardy whipped in a corner kick in the 76th minute to find another assist on his season as Brendan French headed in his first goal of the season and UIndy career.
The Miners tried to dig their way out of the one goal hole, but thanks to strong defense and big saves the Greyhounds picked up the 2-1 win.
With the win, the Greyhounds now sit tied-fifth in the conference with Missouri S&T who they now hold the tiebreaker over because of their win over the Miners.Â
The Hounds will be back on the pitch Wednesday night at 7 p.m. when they take on the University of Illinois Springfield.
