Women's Tennis Eyeing Run at ITA Team Indoor Championship

INDIANAPOLIS - The University of Indianapolis women's tennis team is set to compete in the ITA National Team Indoor Championship this weekend. Their quest towards the indoor crown begins on Friday, Feb. 20, with a 2 PM match against No. 1 Barry University.

The 2025 ITA Division II National Team Indoor Champions is one of the marquee events of the indoor season, showcasing seven of the ITA's top-10 programs.

The Greyhounds enter the tournament as the eighth seed, and will open the first round of competition against the one seed of the tournament, No. 1 Barry. The victorious team will play the winner of No. 4 Flagler and No. 5 West Alabama in the semifinal match Saturday.

UIndy is off to a 2-2 start on the year, holding wins over Charleston and Walsh. Returners Jimena De Pablos Hernando and Sofia Cardenas control the pace in the Greyhound lineup, both owning three singles wins, while teaming up for a 3-1 as a doubles pairing. Another highlight to the doubles lineup are Magda Kornijczuk and Maelys Thiery-James, No. 5 doubles team in the Midwest Region.

The tournament opens at the USTA Midwest Tennis Center tomorrow, Feb 20, at 10 AM, with the championship set to take place on Sunday at 2 PM.
