Greyhounds Overpower Saints 5-2

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – In their first road dual of the season, the No. 13 UIndy men's tennis team took down Thomas More 5-2. The Greyhounds move to 5-2 on the season, while the Saints fall to 4-3

After a narrow 1-2 fall in the doubles point, UIndy responded with wins in five of six singles matches. 

INS AND OUTS
The Saints and Hounds exchanged blows in the opening doubles point, with matches on courts #1 and #2 finishing with the same result. On court #1 Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache topped Raphael Delente and Magnus Hauska 6-4. Meanwhile on court #2, Zaid Shelbaya and Tadeo Gaggiofatto came up short against Samuel Lendinez and Camille Le Guellec, falling 6-4. 

It came down to the breaker on court #3, where the Saints ultimately clinched the doubles point after Reggie Bechtel and Bernat Ballester prevailed over Jovan Matovic and Lorenzo Di Cursi.  

The Hounds had a strong response in singles play, beginning with Matovic posting a 6-1, 6-2 win over Hauska at #2 singles. Following up was Derache on court #3 topping Le Guellec 6-2, 6-3 on court #3. 

In his debut in #1 singles, Gaggiofatto outgunned Delente 6-3, 6-3 to cushion the UIndy lead to 3-1. Another respective debutant was Zaid Shelbaya, who won his first collegiate-career singles match 6-1, 6-2 over Ballester. Vladislav Gorbatenko secured victory for UIndy with his 6-3, 6-7, 1-0 win at #4 singles.

UIndy will host Roosevelt next Tuesday, March 3, at a location to be determined.
