Dominant Fourth Quarter Lifts Hounds to Victory in Greenwood South Carolina

GREENWOOD, S.C. — Indianapolis secured a decisive 16-8 victory over Lander on Saturday at Van Taylor Stadium. Indianapolis dominated the fourth quarter, scoring seven goals to seal the win.

Indianapolis took control early in the first quarter, with Mike Rettberg scoring the first goal at 14:27, assisted by Amadeo Miller. The team continued to maintain momentum as Connor Magin found the back of the net at 12:12, extending the Greyhounds' lead. A strong defensive effort and effective faceoff play by Jonah Koehler helped maintain possession and pressure.

Lander responded with a goal from Matt Duarte at 06:56, cutting into the lead. However, the Greyhounds quickly regained control, with Mitchell Carik scoring at 04:24. The quarter closed with Indianapolis leading, 4-1, establishing a strong foundation for the remainder of the game.

The Bearcats started the second quarter with a strong offensive push, scoring twice in the opening minutes, including a man-up goal by Carson Skinner. The Greyhounds responded after a timeout, with Nick Luitwieler finding the net at 8:16 to initiate their comeback.

Momentum shifted as Matt Pereira and Tanner Hahm scored consecutive goals, with assists from Keegan Laughlin and strong defensive plays by Mitchell Carik and Tyler Bernarduci contributing. Indianapolis closed the quarter tied with Lander, 7-4, maintaining their lead into the break.

Lander opened the third quarter with a man-up goal from Sean Reilly, quickly narrowing the margin. The Greyhounds responded by capitalizing on Lander's turnovers, with Alec Score and Amadeo Miller leading in ground ball recoveries. Despite multiple attempts by Miller, the Lander goalkeeper, Max Porterfield, held firm until Dalton Yates found the net at 6:34, maintaining the Greyhounds' lead.

The momentum shifted as Lander scored three consecutive goals, briefly taking the lead. However, Indianapolis answered back late in the quarter with a goal from Nick Luitwieler at 0:35, reclaiming the advantage. The quarter closed with the Greyhounds ahead, 9-8, setting up a tightly contested final quarter.

The Greyhounds began the fourth quarter by securing possession through a faceoff win by Jonah Koehler, setting the stage for Tanner Hahm to score the opening goal, widening their lead. Following another faceoff win, Mike Rettberg, assisted by Nick Luitwieler, found the net to further increase the advantage, prompting a timeout by Lander.

After resuming play, the Greyhounds maintained momentum with Dalton Yates adding another goal. This offensive surge continued as Amadeo Miller and Connor Magin each contributed with goals, cementing the Greyhounds' dominance in the quarter. Despite Lander's attempts to counter, including a couple of wide shots and a penalty-induced extra-man opportunity, Indianapolis's defense held firm.

Amadeo Miller scored again, assisted by Connor Magin, as the Greyhounds concluded the quarter by keeping Lander scoreless and ensuring a strong finish. The quarter closed with Indianapolis extending its lead to 16-8.
