The Greyhounds step out of conference play with a mid-week matchup at Cedarville on Wednesday, March 25, at 2 p.m. in Cedarville, Ohio.
Â
GAME 1 | UIndy 1, RU 0
Cheyenne Eads won a classic pitchers' dual in what ended as the season's first 1-0 final score. After the Greyhounds pushed across a single run in the bottom of the first—via her own RBI in fact—Eads stifled the Hawks' offensive attack, allowing four hits and a walk while striking out five.
Â
The lone came on a two-out single from Eads in the first, scoring
Cara Cooper—who earlier drew a walk. Both Eads and
Sydney Oliver recorded a pair of hits, with the latter adding a stolen base.
Â
GAME 2 | UIndy 11, RU 3 (6 innings)
The second game started much like the first, with the Hawks carrying a 1-0 edge into the bottom of the third, but UIndy put up crooked numbers in each of the next four innings to grab the lead and pull away.
Â
Eads had another big game at the plate, driving in the go-ahead run in the third and later blasting her second homer of the year with a two-run shot in the sixth.
Â
In the circle, freshman
Caitlin Bunte matched her season high with nine Ks in the complete-game effort. She upped her record to 12-1 with the win, scattering six hits and walking only one.
Â
Brooklyn Willis finished with two runs and two ribbies,
Maya Rodriguez scored three times, and Bunte drove in two.
Peyton Cusack reached base in all three of her plate appearances, including a two-out RBI single in the sixth that walked it off for the Hounds.
