Men's Lacrosse Falls in First Conference Contest of Season

INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Indianapolis fell to Rockhurst University 12-9 on Saturday at Key Stadium. Despite the loss, the Greyhounds managed to score two extra-man goals in the matchup.

Amadeo Miller led the scoring with three goals on 10 shots, including four on goal, demonstrating effective offensive play. Tanner Hahm contributed significantly with one goal and two assists, capitalizing on three of his four shots being on target. Goalkeeper AJ Preachuk made 14 saves from 57 shots faced, maintaining a solid presence in front of the net. Nick Luitwieler scored once on an extra-man opportunity, converting both of his shots into scoring opportunities.

INS & OUTS
Rockhurst initially took advantage, scoring twice to gain a 2–0 lead. Indianapolis responded with a goal from Connor Magin to narrow the gap, followed by another goal from Miller, cutting the deficit to one. However, Rockhurst managed to extend its lead with two more goals before the quarter concluded.

The quarter ended with the Greyhounds trailing Rockhurst 4–2, setting up a competitive next period.

The second quarter opened with an early goal by the Greyhounds as Miller found the back of the net, momentarily closing the gap. However, Rockhurst responded quickly with a man-up goal by Landon Toward, followed by another score from Jonah McConnell, extending its lead.

Indianapolis countered with a goal from Pereira, assisted by Hahm, but Rockhurst maintained its momentum with two more goals. Hahm then added a solo goal for Indianapolis, narrowing the deficit slightly.

As the period progressed, Rockhurst added two more goals, but Indianapolis finished strong with an extra-man goal by Luitwieler, assisted by Pereira, concluding the period with Rockhurst leading 10–6.

In the third quarter, Indianapolis set the tone by winning the faceoff, with Mitchell Carik securing the ground ball to initiate the offense. Despite multiple attempts, including a blocked shot by Magin and saves against Hahm, the Greyhounds were unable to capitalize early. The defense, however, remained resilient, with Preachuk making several key saves to maintain momentum.

Indianapolis eventually broke through with a goal by Keegan Laughlin, assisted by Calen Tucker, cutting into the deficit. As the period progressed, Rockhurst managed to equalize the scoring with a late goal by Tyler Smith, maintaining its lead. The quarter concluded with the Haeks holding an 11–7 advantage.

Indianapolis showed resilience in the fourth quarter, with Miller scoring at 8:35 to narrow the deficit. Despite Rockhurst's Adam Husaby scoring at 2:09, the Greyhounds maintained pressure.

In the closing seconds, Trent Taylor, assisted by Hahm, capitalized on a man-up opportunity to score at 00:16, bringing the game within reach. The quarter ended at 12–9 in favor of Rockhurst.
