LACONIA, Ind. – For the second time this season, the UIndy women's golf team managed a second place finish in a nine team field. The Hounds' other second place finish came at the
Intercollegiate at Nemacolin when
Caroline Whallon,
Macey Brown and
Paige Giovenco all earned medalist honors.Â
Helping the Hounds garner a second place finish was the standout performances from;
Ava Ray,
Caroline Whallon,
Macey Brown and
Paige Giovenco, who all found themselves in the top-10 after 54 holes of action. This is the first time this season the Greyhounds have had four players in the top-10 of a single event.Â
INS & OUTS
Ava Ray had her best performance so far of the spring season with a T5 (+10), and is her best finish since her T4 at the
William Beall Fall Classic. Ray found herself in the top-5 after every round of action, including only two shots back of the eventual champion Ashleigh Duflo from Findlay after 36 holes. Tuesday's scoring average was well over par at 81.46, but Ray shot four less than the tournament final round scoring average to keep herself in a top-5 position for the first time this spring.Â
Joining her cohort with a T5 finish was none other than Giovenco who corralled her fifth top-10 finish of the 2025-26 season, continuing to showcase her prowess on the course. After an opening round 81 (+9), she followed it with the second best round of the weekend, an even-par 72 that saw her fire five birdies in her opening eight holes. She then capped her weekend off with a 73 (+1), which made that her eighth round of 73 or better this season.Â
Brown and Whallon continued their impressive spring seasons with a seventh-place (+13) finish and a T8 (+15) finish, respectively. These are the third and fourth top-10s for the two Greyhounds this spring, and the
second successive time they've both finished in the top-8.Â
Abby Stone was the final member of the Greyhounds five person lineup, as she finished with T31 (+30), including a final round 78 (+6).Â
Lucile Ceolin and
Valentina Cortez once again competed as individuals for UIndy, with Ceolin grabbing a career-best finish T8 with rounds of 82-72-77. Her second round 72 matched Giovenco for the second best round of the weekend, and included a three consecutive birdies on the 6th, 7th and 8th holes. Cortez finished T20 (+26) grabbing her second top-20 of the season.
