JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The bats were hot for the UIndy baseball team today, taking both games of Saturday's doubleheader, which included 46 runs and 35 hits combined between the two contests.
The Greyhounds mashed 11 home runs, its most in a two game stretch this season. Solen Munson was the recipient of three of those home runs, while Austin Bode and Chase Mason each had two a piece. Seven total Greyhounds had a home run during today's doubleheader action.
UIndy also combined for 46 runs, 23 in each game, and marked the third time this season the Greyhounds have surpassed the 20 run mark. The team had only one such game last season with 20 plus runs.
GAME 1 | UIndy 23, Lincoln 7
In the first ever meeting between these two schools, the Greyhounds wasted no time getting on the board, driving home 21 runs in over the first four innings. 11 different players for UIndy recorded an RBI, with Brayton Bowen and Bret Perry each driving in three RBIs on two home runs in the fourth inning.Â
After its 21 runs, the Hounds added two more runs in the sixth and seventh frames on an RBI double from Mason, and a groundout RBI from Nathan Jessup. Jessup's RBI is not only his first of the season, but also the first of his career with the Greyhounds.
Along with hot bats, the Greyhounds pitching was also stellar for much of game one, with the starter Aidan Pearson tossing four innings of six hit, two run, baseball, while Brady Leonard, Brayden Gum, and Erik Rosas all pitched three combined no hit innings with six strikeouts. Leonard and Rosas both made their first appearances on the bump this season for UIndy.
GAME 2 | UIndy 23, Lincoln 15
Following the team's 21 RBI outing in game one, its highest single game RBI output of the year, the Hounds backed it up with 20 more RBIs in game two. The duo of Mason and Munson notched nine combined RBIs of their own, with six of the remaining seven starters all recording at least one RBI of their own.Â
After 13 runs allowed in the first inning, the Hounds pitching found its footing, allowing only two runs the rest of the way. Griffin Hallahan made an appearance in relief of Ayden Tran, and pitched a strong 4 ? innings, while only allowing two hits with four punch outs. Hallahan picked up his third win of the season, all of which came in relief efforts for the Hounds.Â
The Hounds tacked on to its lead in the sixth – with only two hits, a Munson home run and RBI double from Mason, UIndy mustered eight runs to push past the Blue Tigers in the school's second all time meeting against each other.

Tomorrow's series has been adjusted to start at 11 a.m. ET against the Blue Tigers, with the Greyhounds looking for its ninth and 10th straight wins, as well as its third GLVC series win of the season.
