ST. LOUIS — The No. 4-ranked UIndy softball team secured a decisive doubleheader victory over the University of Missouri-St. Louis at UMSL Softball Field Saturday afternoon, winning 5–1 in the first game and following it up with a commanding 10-5 victory in the second. The matchup featured the top two teams in the GLVC standings, with the results increasing the Greyhounds' lead over the rest of the league.

GAME 1 | UIndy 5, UMSL 1
UIndy set the tone in the first inning as
Cheyenne Eads hit a two-run homer to right field after
Cara Cooper was hit by a pitch, putting the Greyhounds up 2–0.
The third inning saw UIndy extend its lead with three more tallies. Cooper set the table with a single, followed by Eads being hit by a pitch—upping her own school record to 28 on the year.
Shelby Cook's single loaded the bases, and
Josie Jager doubled to left center, driving in two.
Paige Vickery then hit a sacrifice fly to score Cook, bringing the lead to 5–0.
Eads also delivered a complete-game performance in the circle, pitching seven innings with 10 strikeouts and allowing only one earned run on five hits. She issued two walks and threw 104 pitches, 72 of which were strikes, securing her 22nd win of the season.Â
GAME 2 | UIndy 10, UMSL 5
The Hounds continued their offensive assault in game two, starting with a second-inning solo homer by Cook. Later, the third inning saw a
decisive surge from UIndy. Jager and
Caitlin Bunte delivered back-to-back RBI singles, while Vickery added a bases-loaded walk. After
Sydney Oliver scored Bunte with a base hit,
Brooklyn Willis punctuated the rally with a three-run double to make it 8-0 Hounds.Â
Cook kept the pedal down with a two-run single in the fifth to put the Greyhounds up 10-2. UMSL managed to extend the game with two runs in the bottom of the fifth, and later added a late unearned run in the seventh inning before UIndy sealed the victory.
Bunte pitched a complete game for the Greyhounds, throwing all seven innings with 121 pitches and also securing her 22nd win of the season. She allowed three earned runs on eight hits, did not walk any batters, and struck out three.
Willis led the offense with three hits and three RBIs while crossing home plate twice. Cook contributed significantly with a home run as part of her two-hit, three-RBI performance. Oliver added three hits and drove in one run, showcasing her impact at the plate.
Cook upped her hit streak to nine games, matching the longest for a Greyhound this season; she is hitting an even .500 in that span. Meanwhile, Bunte has not issued a free pass in her last 24 2/3 innings pitched.
