INDIANAPOLIS – in their last non conference match of the regular season, the No. 49 UIndy women's tennis team dominated Purdue Northwest 6-1. The Greyhounds improved to 8-10 on the season.
After handling all three doubles matches with ease, UIndy used that momentum to capture wins at five of six singles positions.
INS AND OUTS
The Hounds dished out a pair of bagels on courts #2 and #3 before completing the sweep at #1 doubles. Jimena De Pablos Hernando and Sofia Cardenas blanked Rishita Agarwal and Haizea Lopez 6-0 on court #3, and Liza Simak teamed up with Maelys Thiery-James to echo the 6-0 against Victoria Watine and Lavinia Bortolaso at #2 doubles. Silvia Zappoli and Magda Kornijczuk capped doubles with a 6-3 win over Elisoa Andriantefihasina and Tamiya Lintz.
In singles, De Pablos Hernando kept the energy in UIndy's favor with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Lintz at #2 doubles. Kornijczuk replicated that same score against Watine at #3 singles, giving UIndy a 3-0 advantage.
Liza Simak made quick work of Lopez at #4 singles, posting a 6-3, 6-1 win. Cardenas was next to finish for the Hounds, overpowering Bortolaso 6-2, 6-3 on court #5. Linya Chen put a bow on the match in dominant fashion, serving a bagel and breadstick to Agarwal in a 6-1, 6-0 win.
