INDIANAPOLIS – The UIndy women's lacrosse team is ranked first in the latest NCAA DII Midwest Region poll, released Wednesday.
Â
The 2026 postseason marks the second consecutive year in which six teams from each of the four regions earn NCAA berths, with automatic-qualifying bids earned by each of the four Midwest conferences: Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC), Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC), Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC). The remaining two programs in the field will be at-large selections based on several criteria.
Â
Due to the new format, the top two seeds will host first and second round regional games on May 1 and 3, with the Midwest title decided on May 16 on the campus of the highest remaining seed.
UIndy has one of the Midwest region's toughest schedules, having played every team in the region this season, and going a perfect 7-0 against the current teams ranked in the latest set of rankings. Along with a perfect in-region record, the Hounds also sport a win over previously
No. 1 Tampa in the team's season opener, with lone loss coming in a one-point game against the current top seed in the South region, Florida Southern.
Â
Amongst all ranked Midwest region teams, the Greyhounds have played five teams who are currently ranked in the
latest IWLCA poll, including three in the top-10.
UIndy sits atop the GLVC standings with two games left on its schedule, Missouri Western and Quincy, and are primed to host the GLVC Tournament for the first time since
2023.
