INDIANAPOLIS – In their final regular season match, the No. 14 UIndy men's tennis team swept McKendree 7-0. The Greyhounds picked up their eighth-straight win, and improve to 14-4 on the season.
A narrow win in doubles play set the tone for singles action, where UIndy had little to no trouble in bringing out the brooms against the Bearcats.
INS AND OUTS
The Bearcats were on the board first at #3 singles, where Aimar Oregui and Arhaan Pahwa downed Nicolas Balzola and Arda Aroya 6-1,
The Hounds found a quick response on court #2, where Tadeo Gaggiofatto and Zaid Shelbaya finished Riccardo Ercolani and Felix Diedrichs 6-2. UIndy captured the opening point in a tight tiebreak, where No. 50 Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache outlasted Ignacio Paolini and Bendix Schroeder 7-1 in the breaker, winning the match 7-6.
Singles competition began with pure dominance from Ayllon Prado, the No. 20 ranked singles player. The sophomore finished Paolini 6-2, 6-2 at #1 singles to give UIndy a 2-0 lead. Lorenzo Di Cursi echoed that result on court #6, downing Oregui 6-2, 6-2.
The Hounds found a 4-0 lead after No. 42 Gaggiofatto made quick work against Schroeder on court #2, winning 6-2, 6-3. Jovan Matovic was next to find the winner's circle for UIndy, overcoming Felix Diedrichs 6-0 7-6 (7-4).
Shelbaya put UIndy up 6-0 after a win at #5 singles, outlasting Stepan Mach 6-1, 5-7, 6-1. Derache called game for UIndy on court #4, pulling out a gritty win over Luka Kalinic in a super tiebreak, winning 6-7, 6-1, 10-6.

The Hounds will await the GLVC Championship Tournament draw next weekend, where they will compete next Friday, May 1, at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN.
