GREENWOOD, Ind. – UIndy swimming & diving student-athlete
Celina Schmidt was named to the 2025-26 Academic All-America® First Team, announced Tuesday. A native of Berlin, Germany, Schmidt is one of only three three-time honorees on this year's list and one of only two to repeat as first teamers. Selected annually by College Sports Communicators, the prestigious honor is bestowed on the country's top student-athletes for their combined performance in the pool and in the classroom.
Schmidt capped an impressive career with seven All-America swims at the
2026 NCAA DII Championships, helping the Greyhounds to a sixth-place finish in the team standings. She also won six gold medals and a silver at the
GLVC Championships, three GLVC Swimmer of the Week honors as well as a SwimCloud DII Swimmer of the Week nod.
A two-time NCAA event champion, Schmidt's 23 All-America awards are good for a share of fourth in the school's all-time annals. She is also the conference record holder with eight career GLVC Swimmer of the Week recognitions. She currently owns the individual school record the 100 breaststroke and also contributed to school-record swims in the 800 free and 400 medley relays.
