TEMPE, Ariz. – Wednesday's fresh release of the ITA Poll bumped the UIndy men's tennis team up to thirteenth, moving up one spot from last week's poll.
The Greyhounds vaulted in the national ranks after capturing the GLVC East Division regular season title, sweeping McKendree 7-0. Last week's strong showing moved their overall record to 14-4, while boosting their regional record to a perfect 11-0. UIndy also holds five ranked-wins on the season, and are the No. 1 team in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Rankings in the latest listings.
Moving onto individual rankings, Asier Ayllon Prado was ranked in the top-25 for the eighth consecutive week, entering the new poll at No. 22. The sophomore's season record now sits at 22-5, while holding a pair of ranked wins. Tadeo Gaggiofatto came in at No. 51 in the latest publication, after a pair of wins last weekend. Gaggiofatto also owns two ranked wins in singles play, with an overall record of 18-5.
Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache moved up in the doubles listings, moving up three spots to No. 47. The duo has a record of 12-3 paired together, and have won their last five matches.
Looking ahead, the Hounds enter the GLVC Championship Tournament at the No. 1 seed in the East Division, and await the winner of McKendree and Rockhurst in the 10 AM Semifinal match this Saturday, May 2.
